After twenty plus years of partying in a dear green place called Glasgow, the Sub Club still resides deep below number 22 Jamaica Street.

Weekend in, weekend out, you can find the best of the city’s music makers playing to the best people the city can muster on the best sound system you will hear in Scotland or anywhere in the world for that matter.

And joining them are artists from all corners of the planet, enthused by the reputation that the club, hand in hand with it’s hedonists, has built over years. Recently voted 10th Best Club in the World by ResidentAdvisor.net and voted in the top 30 in the world by DJ Magazine 2008.

A reputation that promises no prejudice and no limits when it comes to enjoying great music. So what happens here?

Amongst other things the club provides a platform for young, up-and-coming music makers, from laptop troubadours to the Glasgow School of Guitar Bands, while longer serving residents get a free reign to push their music forward. Saturday night’s Subculture, lorded over by Harri and Domenic and Sundays, the bastion of Twitch and Wilkes’ Optimo, are both known locally, nationally and internationally for redrawing musical boundaries on a regular basis.

Add to that local heroes Slam, Numbers, Sensu, Cotton Cake, Kinky Afro, Hyp? and Flux and you have a collection of the best underground talent Glasgow has to offer.

We sell advance tickets for most Friday and Saturday events. These tickets give you the advantage of fast track entry and guaranteed entry into the club. To purchase tickets please click ‘Buy tickets’ within the What’s On section.

Dress Code
With the exception of Durrr, we don’t have a dress code at The End. So whether you’re in your jeans and trainers or cocktail dress and kitten heels we will let you in. Durrr’s dress code is based on the effort you make. Most people try to dress in such a way that will reflect the music policy of the night.

Lost Property
We recommend that you place your bags and coats in our cloakroom. Each item costs £1.50. However if you do leave the club without an item, please call the office on 020 7419 9199, Monday – Friday between 10:30 and 6:30. We hold unclaimed items for approx 3 months, so do call if you lose something. We’ve heard all the excuses for forgetting your property so don’t be embarrassed about calling. We’ve returned all kinds of items, including a wallet containing photos of the owner kissing his girlfriend’s breasts! (Well we assume that it was his girlfriend.)

Smoking Policy
Under government legislation, all bars and clubs officially become no smoking zones from 1st of July 2007. We are legally obliged to ensure that all our employees and customers are aware of the new laws. We are also responsible for the slightly thornier task of telling off anyone caught having a sly fag in the club – and there are of course fines for us if The End fails to comply.

We will offer a facility to a limited number of smokers at any one time after 1am. However we do not provide an “outside smoking space” or courtyard. We are unable to do so because of our commitment to keeping our local residents happy by not encouraging loitering or constant noise outside.

D-Edge is a breakthrough nightclub. The sound system and the lights there are reference and inspiration for every other (good) nightclub in Brazil. Once you get in there you feel like you’re not on earth. It is, basically, a black box with lights on the walls, ceiling and floor – red, green, yellow, purple, orange, blue (my favorite one – they only put the blue in special occasions, when people are going crazy with the excellent song playing).

The sound penetrates into your ears and when you notice, you’re in the middle of the dance floor dancing like no one is watching you. It is 5 years old and every year it’s on the top 5 nightclubs from DJ Mag magazine. It is open everyday, except Tuesdays, all nights the music playing is electronic, but each night has a specific name and a specific kind of e-music playing. There’s On The Rocks, on Mondays, with electro-punk. Cio, on Wednesdays, playing electro and 80’s stuff. Freak Chic, Fridays, with house and similar, Saturday is Mother ship, playing minimal and on Sunday mornings Paradise, an after-hours that stars around 5am and goes to 1pm.

Inspired by New York’s Paradise Garage, Ministry of Sound’s London nightclub was the brainchild of DJ Justin Berkmann, who set out to create London’s first club devoted to the US house music scenes of New York, Chicago and Detroit, with a room purely dedicated to sound. He stated: “My concept for Ministry was purely this: 100% sound system first, lights second, design third (in that order).

Berkmann partnered with James Palumbo and Humphrey Waterhouse to bring the concept to life and a site, a disused bus garage, was located in Elephant & Castle in Southwark, London. The club opened on 21 September 1991.

With opening sets from US house DJs like Larry Levan, David Morales, C+C Music Factory, Roger Sanchez and Tony Humphries, the UK’s first 24-hour dance license, and a 140dB(A) sound-system, Ministry of Sound London quickly grew in popularity as a clubbing venue, despite the lack of an alcohol license for the first three years and notoriously strict door policies.
Today, the club remains at the forefront of the global dance music scene, with internationally recognised DJs playing mix sets every Friday and Saturday night. Since April 2008, Fridays have been hosted by The Gallery, with sets from leading hard house and trance DJs. Saturdays are Ministry of Sound’s long-standing Saturday Sessions with house, electro and techno sets from popular DJs including Sasha, Erick Morillo, Pete Tong and David Guetta. Ministry of Sound London also hosts a range of other parties and events during the week and is available for private hire.

The club comprises five main areas; the Bar, the Baby Box, the VIP and the Loft and the Box, the latter housing the club’s primary sound-system, with a specially-built roof to contain sound and a sprung floor intended to enable clubbers to dance for many hours without tiring, inspired by the dance floor at the Paradise Garage.

The club is located in a former power plant in Friedrichshain, behind the railway station. The building is distinguished by its enormous dimensions, which accommodate an 18 meter high dance floor and space for 1500 guests, and also its minimalist design, dominated by steel and concrete. The club contains a “cavernous” main room, as well as a smaller upstairs space called the Panorama Bar, which is decorated by enormous photographs and tall windows with a view of East Berlin. Only half of the building is currently in use. The second half of the building will soon be used as a concert hall.

One of the top clubs in Singapore!

How big is Zouk? It was the first night club in Singapore to play House music, and today is all the rage with the nation’s clubbing crowd. Zouk actually isn’t a club; it’s three interconnected clubs: Zouk, Phuture, and Velvet Underground – you can get an idea of what these three spaces are like, both visually and musically, by their names.

After nearly two decades, Zouk is still the throbbing heart of the action. The pulsating institution is a strobe-lit, rambling warren of dance floors, figure-hugging outfits, swagger and seasoned moves. For many of the pretty young hipsters here, it’s a rite of passage.

Mambo Jambo is a spin of the term mumbo jumbo which fittingly described the type of music peculiar to the theme night. It began with a somewhat unorthodox mix of 70s and 80s pop hits and house and over the years, it evolved and incorporated rock, dance and hip hop. A huge hit with the local clubbers, many imitators tried to follow the ‘retro’ theme formula with relatively lesser success. Zouk remained the standard bearer for this unique clubbing experience in Singapore.

Phuture is futuristic and plays broken beats, Velvet Underground has exquisite velvet-covered walls and plays laid-back house and soul, and Zouk, the main dancing stage, plays a blend of everything. Want more proof of Zouk’s commitment to being the best in Southeast Asia? It makes a point of sending its DJs to Europe and the US on a regular basis for “re-orientation,” and to acquire new music. Cocoon is another club that is linked with Sven Väth, but unlike the others, this night club completely bears the stamp of this legendary DJ. You can’t help but feel like you are really in a cocoon, although maybe in an über-modern style of cocoon. Both visually and acoustically, this club’s design is awe-inspiring; there is a 100m across, 360 degree screen bounces synchronized lights and images off it like no other. Add to that stunning cocoon-like features like a 100m long iridescent “Membrane Wall” and actual “cocoons” (each with a minibar, light controls, and a sound system), and once you get into Cocoon, you won’t want to come back out.

From 2006 til date, Amnesia has been awarded for 3 consecutive years the prestigious BEST GLOBAL CLUB award in the Winter Music Conference which is held every year in Miami during the last week of March.

In 2009 Amnesia installed a system of 24 color lasers with the latest technology controllable like a robot. 23 lasers are 1 Watt RGB and there is one high power RGBY Matrix. The combination results in a spectacle unimaginable.

Currently Amnesia is about to begin to open franchises in four key destinations, these franchises must meet strict requirements to guarantee to be as similar as possible to the original club of Ibiza.

The clubs of Ibiza start to become famous worldwide. Although due to neighbors complaints the authorities oblige them to cover the dance-floors, which had traditionally functioned in the open air. In 1999 the UN claims Ibiza cultural heritage. The island reaches one hundred thousand habitants and the label Amnesia extends from magazines to records, cloths’etc. Its fame grows like its foam, that foam that names one of its most important performances. Today in the 21st century who hasn’t heard of parties like ‘Cocoon Club’, ‘La Troya Asesina’ or ‘Cream’? Disc-jockeys like Sven Väth, Paul Van Dyk, Dj Tiësto, Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier or Carl Cox are just some of the legendary stars to have passed through the dj booth.

Likewise the list of rich and famous that have been to the disco during their summer holidays is endless’ Naomi Campbell, Puf Daddy, Dolce & Gabbana, Bono, Boy George, Elle McPherson, George Michael, Valentino Rossi and Calvin Klein’ the gods of fashion and beauty.

One of the secrets to its success lies in the quality of its sound. If any derivative of the word “technology” has not crossed your mind yet… then I must say I’m very disappointed in you. As would be expected of a Japanese creation, Womb is ultramodern (DJmag calls it a “space station”), with first-class lights and sounds – with major emphasis on sounds. Womb features plenty of space on its sizable dance floor, above which hangs one of Japan’s largest disco balls: 1.5m across.
